Presentation

The church dates back to the 19th century and was inaugurated in 1850. It was the first neo-Gothic rural church in the département.
The construction of the church was inspired by that of Saint-Nicolas in Nantes. Its magnificent portal is well worth a visit.

During the Second World War, during the "Saint-Nazaire Pocket", the church was bombed by the Germans. Its bell tower, which served as a watchtower, was largely destroyed by a shell in January 1945.

Next to the church, in the cemetery, is the Carré des prêtres (priests' square): dating from the early 19th century, this monument features busts of the parish priests of Chauvé.
