Presentation

Historical monument dating from the 21 century, the lantern of Les Moutiers en Retz is nowadays, the only one in France in activity! The goal of this monument consists of lighting a little lamp (a candle in the old days) when someone in the village is dead and during the day of the dead. 
This lantern is located in the middle of the old cemetery between the Madame Church ( nowadays destroyed ) and the St Pierre Church.
The lantern can be seen from the outside only.
