The dunes of the Collet des Moutiers-en-Retz invite you to daydream... with a landscape worthy of a postcard: elegant fisheries, wild beaches, graceful birds...
From Lancastria to the port of Le Collet, a beautiful walk awaits you... with a breathtaking view over the Baie de Bourgneuf! To guide you, follow the customs path - Gr8 or the Collet circuit.

From the sea to the land, you can follow the foreshore, which is largely uncovered at low tide, the beach with its wooden groynes, the typical fisheries, the dune and finally the marshland where horses graze.

This is a great place to observe the flora - dune bindweed, sand toadflax, dune carnation and even Immortelle, a small plant with yellow flowers that smell of curry! At low tide, the vast mudflats are revealed as the sea recedes several kilometres and the waltz of wading birds begins - sandpipers, avocets, egrets and shelducks come to feed. 

For several years now, this Natura 2000 site has been involved in a programme of beach cleaning. The beaches are cleaned by hand a few times a year by volunteers, to encourage greater biodiversity.

  • the Baie de Bourgneuf, the island of Noirmoutier offshore and, in fine weather, the bridge linking the island to the mainland
  • the fisheries on the dune and the trees bent over by the wind in the port of Le Collet
  • the Breton marshes, their streams and marsh birds

  • for swimming: check the tide tables; swimming is only possible at high tide 
  • bring your dog, but remember to keep it on a lead and clean up after it at all times. 

Dune du Collet is one of the natural areas of Moutiers-en-Retz presented by the Destination Pornic tourist office.
